SNACK TIME

At preschool we provide all children with healthy snacks during their attendance.

Each day children have choice of fresh fruit and milk or water, encouraging independence and choice for all.

Where your child has an allergy for example diary intolerance we will always provide alternatives that are suitable to meet their needs.

We know it can be difficult to know what to do when it comes to snacks, so we have lots of tips and advice to help you make and buy healthier options.

Fruit and veg snacks are always the best choice, but if the kids are having packaged snacks, just remember to aim for 2 a day max.

Dentist recommended tooth-friendly snacks for children

Kids love to snack. Their vibrant lifestyle and small stomachs often cause them to rummage through the refrigerator or the kitchen cabinets for a treat. According to nutritionists, kids need to eat every three to four hours to meet their nutritional needs. The case today is that most kids dive into cookies, sweets, and sugar filled drinks to satisfy their hunger. These foods are high in added sugars that can cause dental issues.

Snacks to Stock

Here’s an expert recommended list of kid-friendly and tooth-friendly snacks:

  • Fresh fruits that are high in fibre like apples, oranges, etc.

  • Vegetable salads with light dressings

  • Raw vegetables or whole-grain bread sticks with hummus or other dips
