SENCO DROP IN

The role of the preschool SENCO is to ensure we are providing inclusive practice and supporting all children and their families, who have Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

At preschool we have a setting SENCO Sally, who supports children with additional needs creating targeted plans to support their development and individual learning outcomes. Sally will work with both key workers and parents to design these plans alongside external professionals such as health visitors, speech and language therapists and paediatricians.

Through careful observation and assessment here at preschool we are able to build a picture of your child and their development, enabling us to assess any gaps in learning and how we can effectively approach these through teaching and learning, with SMART targets over a period of time.

Sally will communicate with local Early Years SEN advice for support where necessary and with permission from parents, will make necessary referrals for external support in the best interest of the child.

We operate an 'Open Door' policy here at preschool in all areas, so that our team as a whole are approachable at all times, and this includes SEN related issues.

We designed our SENCO DROP IN sessions so that parents are aware that if they do have a concern, or question for the preschool SENCO they are able to drop in on THURSDAYS between 1:30-2:30 with no appointment needed.

Sally will be on hand to provide advice, obtain advice and make a plan going forward, along with a cup of tea or coffee too.

Should you wish to speak to Sally please drop in to preschool on Thursday afternoons 1:30-2:30 and she will be more than happy to help.
